2013 Cadillac XTS Sedan

The 2013 Cadillac XTS Sedan is powerful and sophisticated – a combination which can seldom be resisted. Known to be the most technologically sophisticated vehicle from the Cadillac house, the XTS sedan offers luxury like very few others. If you are a gadget junkie, this will be the car of your dreams. Read on below for a detailed review of this enchantress and see if you have it in you to resist her.

The Mechanics

The 2013 Cadillac XTS Sedan comes with a V6, 24 valve 3.6 liter direct injection engine that pumps out 304 hp. It generates a torque of 264 ft-lbs and 5200 rpm. The transmission ranges over 6 speeds and the sedan accelerates from 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. This luxury sedan does not claim to be a sports car; the focus is here on the smoothest and the most luxurious drive, which is exactly what you enjoy in the sedan. The mileage of the sedan is 17mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway. The car comes with both forward wheel drive (FWD) and all wheel drive (AWD). Capacity of the fuel tank is 19.0 liters and it uses the normal unleaded fuel.

The Exteriors

2013 Cadillac XTS looks like how a sleek luxury sedan should look. It is stylish, classy and impressive. The wheels are painted alloy 19 x 8.5 inches in size. They are all season tires. The roof defogger and variable intermittent wipers add a dash of style, in addition to being highly functional in bad weather. It has got a sunroof as well. The sedan is also equipped with cargo tie downs. The length of the sedan is 202 inches and the width is 72.9 inches. When all seats are in place, the cargo capacity is 18.0 cu ft. It is available in different color ranges.

The Interiors

The interiors of the sedan are very spacious, as you can make out from the measurements. You have a whole lot of gadgets in the sedan. The instrumentation panel consists of a clock, compass, low fuel warning system, tachometer, display for external temperature and trip computer. The entertainment console is complete with 8 Bose premium brand speakers, mast antenna, CD player integrated with radio and MP3, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, iPod integration, auxiliary input for audio, USB connection, a slot for a memory card and radio data system. Not content with these, the manufacturers have also made space for pre-wired phone, Bluetooth hands free phone with wireless data link and a detailed and advanced navigation system. A heated steering wheel enhances comfort of driving.

Safety Features

The safety features are admirable. In other words, nothing has been left to chance. The car comes with airbags for the front, back and sides (10 airbags in all), child seat anchors, anti theft alarm system, child safety lock at the back seats and comfortable headrests in the front. To make driving safer the car has cornering lights, anti braking system on all four wheels, emergency braking system, ventilated disc brakes for the front and back tires, running lights for the daytime, engine immobilizer and much more. The car also comes with traction control and stability control, electronic brake force distribution, multi adjustable headrest at the back, tire pressure monitoring system and post collision safety system. You have a backup camera as well.

A highlight of XTS is CUE integration. CUE is an acronym for Cadillac User Experience. This is a touch screen measuring 8 inches and works like an iPad. It understands voice commands as well. The working of this system is very similar to that of an iPad. In fact, Cadillac has customized its CUE to be compatible on iPad as an app. CUE is a great piece of technology.

Cadillac XTS comes as a strong competition for the biggies in the industry – the Mercedes, Audi and BMW high end luxury sedans. Cadillac is of course a lot cheaper. Although Cadillac’s CTS and XTS look similar when you first look at them, there is a whole lot of difference between the two models. While CTS is meant for performance, XTS is meant for more than performance. It is meant to be a family sedan which can comfortably accommodate five people. Luggage space is also provided accordingly. So, the XTS is roomier, can hold more cargo space and is extremely practical.

The XTS comes with a 4 year or 50,000 mile warranty. The cherry on the cake is that this sedan is priced starting from $45,000. Yes, we can now see your thin wall of resistance crumbling and we don’t want to blame you for giving in.
